Konstfack! Cut all ties with the Israeli Bezalel Academy of Art and Design
Israel is committing war crimes and killing civilian Palestinians.
Amnesty International have stated that Israeli forces continue to violate international humanitarian law, wiping out an entire people with total impunity. More than 35 000 Palestinians have already been killed since October 2023.
▪ Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, located in Jerusalem, have been discriminating against their Palestinian students. Since October 8 2023 numerous Palestinian students have been expelled due to expressing their grief on the ongoing injustices and crimes on their personal social media platforms. Israeli students are encouraged to report their classmates who share social media posts on the genocide.
▪ The workshops of Bezalel are being used to produce and mend uniforms of the Israeli soldiers. Students of the school are encouraged to help in this work.
▪ The leadership of Konstfack have been ignoring our call for actions regarding the discrimination against the Palestinian students at Bezalel. Konstfack for Palestine has numerous times reached out to the vice chancellor of Konstfack, Anna Valtonen, demanding Konstfack to make a statement urging Bezalel to stop the discrimination.
▪ The leadership of Konstfack has not made a statement. Instead, the leadership of Konstfack keeps claiming that Bezalel is not discriminating against Palestinian students and that the school is not involved in the war. The leadership of Konstfack keeps this stand despite the information on Bezalel Webpage where it clearly says that the studios are being used to repair uniforms for Israeli soldiers as well as reports that fashion students now make uniforms.

Konstfack for Palestine disagrees with the leadership of Konstfack. We believe in freedom of speech and the freedom to express oneself and we are convinced that a safe study environment for all students is crucial to achieve that.
We demand the leadership of Konstfack to follow the core values of the institution and therefore immediately cut all ties with Bezalel because of its involvement in the war and its discrimination against Palestinian students.
