STOP THE DEPORTATION OF SELAMAWIT NEGA

STOP THE DEPORTATION OF SELAMAWIT NEGA! URGENT!
Selamawit Nega is a lesbian woman and Ethiopian citizen who lives in Sweden and she is facing deportation back to a country where she will be in severe danger. Her deportation is dated September 8th so we must act now!
Varför är det viktigt?
Ethiopia has a repressive legislation about same sex relationships and LGBTQ+ people are often facing discrimination and violence. There is a formal official document issued by the Ethiopian court about Selamawit Nega, that she is wanted because of accusations of acts of homosexuality. Selamawit also comes from a family where homosexuality is prohibited and when she came out as a lesbian she left the country to seek protection and safety in Sweden. Now she faces deportation and she fears discrimination, harassment, violence and a big risk of being isolated.
A professional counselor has met Selamawit regularly since 2024 and done psychosocial assessments that prove that deporting her would be a terrible act! There is an increased risk of severe mental illness if she was to be deported and even now in the face of uncertainty about the future and safety she has shown clear signs of depression, worsening of PTSD symptoms and increased suicide risk.
Selamawit and all other queer refugees have a great need for a safe and non-judgmental environment, to be respected and to exist in peace. Let Selamawit stay and let us show that we care!
